Grima sad to see star leave London
London Broncos coach Joey Grima has reacted with dismay to the news that Mason Caton-Brown has joined Salford.
The promising 21-year-old back has been the Broncos’ top tryscorer this season, notching 11 in total, as well as being the side’s top metre maker.
“Mason will be a great loss to the club,” said Grima.
“He is our leading try scorer and ideally we would have like to have seen all his potential fulfilled playing for the Broncos. We don’t feel that we could stand in his way in securing his future in Super League.”
London are yet to win a game this season, and were defeated again at Huddersfield on Saturday, losing 38-22.
Grima has also revealed, however, that there are new recruits on the way to the capital city club, while Keiran Dixon will be also be staying put.
“We’re actively recruiting and targeting players that can play Super League and if things happen differently we’re certainly going to have some quality players wherever we are,” he said.
“We’ve agreed and signed two Australian NRL players to come over for next year.
“We’re still in negotiations with Kieran (Dixon) he’s talking to a number of clubs and we’re just going through the process with his agent.
“Kieran’s coming through a pretty horrendous injury but he’s six weeks ahead of schedule and should be available for selection, given the surgeon okays him, in about five weeks but there’s no doubt in the world that we’d love to have Kieran at our club in whatever competition we play in.”
