Halifax snap up Bradford forward

Halifax have signed back-rower Matt Garside from Bradford for the 2020 season.

The 28-year-old has made 40 appearances from the Bulls over the last two years, scoring 11 tries.

Garside said: “I’m really happy to be here. I was coming to the end of my contract at Bradford Bulls having been there for two years and I met up with Simon Grix for a coffee one day.

“I had a long chat with him and really bought into his plans for where he wants to take the club. He mentioned a few signings that he wanted to make and I’m happy to be here for the future.

“I’d like to say I’m hard working and quite reliable. First and foremost, my aim is to try and earn the respect of my team-mates and then the fans around me by just putting in the hard work week in, week out, and try to get to the top of the league and to push for promotion.”

Halifax coach Simon Grix added: “Matt is an intelligent and driven character who understands the requirements of his position.

“He is experienced and has high standards for himself.  I feel he will prove a great addition to the team.”
