Have your say: Who should face Australia in midweek matches on their 2020 tour?
Australia coach Mal Meninga intends to bring his Kangaroos over to England for a big tour in 2020, and we want to know who should they face in midweek matches.
The Kangaroos boss has held talks with England coach Wayne Bennett about bringing his side to St Helens for a midweek game in the middle of a three-match Test tour next year.
Official details have yet to be confirmed on any dates or games though.
Bennett said: “Australia will be over next year.
“I was talking to Mal the other day and he is keen to come over here and play some midweek games and revisit the Kangaroos tradition rather than playing just three games, so I think it’s pretty exciting stuff.
“He said he talked to some of the owners here about the possibility of playing games here next year against the Knights as well, which would be great for them.
“There would only be two or three midweek games and that’s all you need for it to be what it used to be like.”
There has been a bit of debate on social media as to who the Kangaroos should face in games between their Test matches against England as they aim to make it a proper, old fashioned tour.
The England Knights has been suggested as a possible opponent for the Kangaroos as well as the traditional Lancashire and Yorkshire teams. Cumbria has also been mentioned. It seems the appetite is there for the county teams to return as a one-off.
I’d definitely be up for Jamaica against Australia. But with all respect to Nigeria, Lancashire and Yorkshire would provide much, much stronger teams. What about Wales, Ireland and Scotland facing Australia too? Puts a bigger brand out there then.

Or should Australia take on Wales, Scotland or Ireland in midweek matches?
Jamaica and Nigeria could also be options for Meninga and his men.
We want to know what you think…
