Widnes captain Hep Cahill has announced he will return Down Under after eight years at the Vikings.

The 31-year-old made 168 appearances during his eight seasons at Widnes, scoring 10 tries. The New Zealander will now head home with his family.

Cahill tweeted: “My family and I are sad to announce that our time here in England is coming to an end.

“This was a very hard hard decision to make and one we did not take lightly as Widnes has been our home and we have made friends for life during our time here.

“We have loved the Vikings like our family and are sorry to be leaving the club and the town which we call home.

“Thank you to everyone that has been part of our journey here. We wish you all the best of luck for the future.”
