Hetherington angered by Carney move, report claims

Leeds Rhinos chief executive Gary Hetherington has urged his fellow Super League directors to block Todd Carney‘s move to Catalan Dragons, according to a report in The Sun.

The report quotes from an email which Hetherington is alleged to have sent to the hierarchies at fellow Super League clubs.

In the email, Hetherington apparently states: ”We’d be appalled if his application was granted because it would damage the integrity and profile of Super League.”

Catlan confirmed recently that the player had signed for them. The RFL also confirmed that it was considering carefully whether or not to ratify the deal.

Carney is effectively banned from playing the NRL, following the infamous ‘bubbling’ incident earlier this year.
