Hodkinson outlines England ambition

Newcastle Knights halfback Trent Hodkinson is keen to represent England in the Four Nations later this year.

The former New South Wales State of Origin star has an English father, and has acknowledged that wearing the white jersey would be the fulfillment of a long-held ambition.

“It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time,” he said, according to Australian newspaper The Daily Telegraph.

“My dad is English, both grandparents are English. The heritage there in the Hodkinson name is English.

“Dad obviously wishes me the best in whatever I choose to do. Obviously, he’ll be stoked and so will both grandparents.

“It’s something I’ve wanted to do before my career was over and I think it’s a good opportunity at the moment.”

Hodkinson also admits to looking forward to facing off against the Kangaroos, should the opportunity arise.

“I’ll be very passionate about it but when the opportunity comes I’m not too sure,” he added.

“If it’s this year, it is, if it’s later it’s later so we’ll wait and see.”
