Howarth makes Whitehaven move
Whitehaven have made another swoop on rivals Workington, this time signing former Super League hooker Stuart Howarth on a one-year deal.
Howarth, 27, made 24 appearances for Town in 2017 having dropped down from the top flight, where he has played for Wigan, Salford, Hull, St Helens and Wakefield.
Head coach Carl Forster said: “I’m made up to get someone like Stu on board. His talent and experience at the highest standard will help us a long way this season. He can play 9/13 or halfback which is massive for us. Soon as we knew Stu was available we acted quick and we’re made up to get the deal over the line.”
Howarth is set to be available for the start of the season after undergoing an operation on an elbow injury.
