Huddersfield receive good news on James Gavet’s injury

Huddersfield have some positive news on James Gavet after the prop was stretchered off the field in a neck brace against Hull KR.

The Giants are the only team left in Super League to have a 100% record in 2020 after they won 22-4 at Hull KR on Friday night.

Off-season recruit Gavet was carried off on a stretcher early in the second half wearing a neck brace following an innocuous-looking tackle.

Huddersfield coach Simon Woolford said: “He’s up and walking around so I think it was more precautionary than anything. We’ll be monitoring him during the week.

“I thought it was patchy (from us) but you’ve got to take into account it’s a tough place to come and play and the wind made it difficult.

“We feel we’ve got a fair bit of resilience in our defence. That is something to be proud of.

“They had the wind in the first half and we defended our try-line quite well for long periods.

“We started the season last year with seven or eight out of our top 17 unavailable. The guys are a lot more committed and a lot more resilient this year. When we have had to roll our sleeves up and defend our line we’ve been able to do that.”
