Hull KR full-back to undergo surgery
Hull KR have announced fullback Will Dagger will undergo surgery on Friday to correct an ankle injury.
Dagger returned to the club this year, having spent the second half of the season on loan at Championship side Featherstone.
The 22-year-old has ankle ligament damage, according to a tweet by the club, and they hope he will be back early next year.
The tweet said: “The club can confirm Will Dagger will undergo surgery tomorrow on ankle ligament damage to return in early 2022. Speedy recovery, Dags.”

Dagger returns from Championship loan
Dagger has been with the Robins since the 2018 season, when he signed from Warrington. Since then, he has made 34 appearances for the club, scoring five tries.
He has also had loan spells at York, Leigh and Featherstone. At York, he managed to score three tries in four games, helping the Knights achieve promotion to the Championship.
Dagger will be hoping to return in time for the Robins’ Super League opener against Wigan at Hull College Craven Park in February.
Before then, the Rovers have two pre-season friendlies against Huddersfield and Championship side Dewsbury in January.
Hull KR confirm squad numbers
Meanwhile, Dagger’s squad number was recently confirmed by the Robins. He has kept the number 19 shirt he has kept since the 2020 season.
Among the squad number changes in 2022, new signing Lachlan Coote takes the number one shirt and Brad Takairangi moves up to number three.
George King has also moved up to the 10 shirt, replacing Korbin Sims who moves to the 16 shirt King had. Dean Hadley also moves up to the 11 shirt vacated by Takairangi. This also means Matty Storton takes the final starting jersey.
