Important year ahead for Warrington
Rugby league great Andrew Johns thinks that 2014 is going to be an important year for his former club Warrington.
Johns, 39, says that it is especially important for half-back Richie Myler to step up and fill the void left behind by the retired Lee Briers.
“Lee Briers, Adrian Morley and Brett Hodgson are big losses, they were three really senior players.
“Around the halves is going to be the most interesting, Lee Briers has been the dominant player for ten to fifteen years.
“It is up to Richie Myler now to step up, he needs a big off-season and he needs a really strong start.”
Johns, who was speaking whilst on a visit to Warrington’s University of Chester training base, paid further tribute to Briers.
He added, “Lee is one of the most special players I’ve ever played with. He knows the game back to front and he’ll be a good coach with the young kids.”
