In numbers: Super League Round 24 attendances
A total of 55,811 spectators attended a fixture during Super League Round 24.
That’s an average of 9,301 across the six Super League fixtures – an increase of 2,334 compared to the previous round.
Leeds recorded the highest attendance of the round with 13,152 at Headingley Stadium for their clash against Warrington on Friday. Rohan Smith’s side claimed their fifth consecutive win and a season-high fifth spot on the Super League table.
The Rhinos have an average attendance of 12,871 so far in 2022 and are the only side to record an attendance of over 10,000 for every home game.
Elsewhere in Super League
Wigan recorded the second highest attendance of the recent action. 12,145 fans attended the DW Stadium for their 52-6 victory over Toulouse on Friday. Bevan French scored his fourth Super League hat-trick of the season while the defeat all but confirmed Toulouse’s relegation to the Championship.
There were three attendances over 10,000 across Round 24, with 10,048 at the Totally Wicked Stadium on Friday night. St Helens claimed a 38-12 victory over Hull KR and are now just one win away from lifting the League Leaders’ Shield.
Thursday night’s televised game at the John Smith’s Stadium recorded the lowest crowd with 4,168. Ian Watson’s Huddersfield defeated Castleford 36-10 live on Sky Sports.
Saturday’s only game between Catalans and Salford in Perpignan saw a crowd of 7,133. Paul Rowley’s Red Devils recorded an impressive 46-14 victory to claim sixth spot from Castleford in the play-offs. Following the defeat, Catalans boss Steve McNamara said he was ’embarrassed’ and ‘ashamed’ by the ‘unacceptable’ performance at Stade Brutus.
Finally, Friday night’s Sky Sports game recorded a crowd of 9,165 at the MKM Stadium as Hull FC fell to a 18-26 home defeat to Wakefield. It was a massive victory for Willie Poching’s side, who are now six points ahead of bottom side Toulouse in the table.
A total of 1,144,764 supporters have attended a top flight game of rugby league in 2022.
