Inglis’ NRL season finished
South Sydney‘s hopes for a first NRL finals appearance in five years have been dealt a major blow with Greg Inglis ruled out for the rest of the season.
Inglis suffered a grade two syndesmosis ankle ligament injury during a tackle in the Rabbitohs’ 22-10 defeat at Brisbane on Sunday.
“Inglis’ ankle will be immobilised for four to six weeks and reviewed after that,” the club said in a statement.
It leaves South Sydney‘s hopes of making the NRL‘s top eight on a knife-edge.
Inglis has been a key component in the Rabbitohs’ surge in form, which has seen them score five wins from their last six matches.
The news also means that Inglis’ place in the Australia squad to take part in the Four Nations tournament at the end of the year could also be in doubt.
