Jake Mamo feeling refreshed at new club Castleford
Jake Mamo says the new environment has refreshed him as he prepares for his first season as a Tiger.
Mamo makes the move under new head coach Lee Radford in what the club are labelling a ‘new era’ in 2022.
Castleford open their new campaign at home to Salford, with a crowd of more than 10,000 expected to attend the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.
One new face hoping he can impress will be Mamo, who says the move from Warrington has refreshened him.
He told Love Rugby League: “It’s a good group of guys. They welcomed me well. Everyone’s here is pretty easy-going and good to get along with.
“I always like a new coach. It kind of refreshes you a little bit; the same as a new team I suppose.
“It’s good to be refreshed. It took me a couple weeks to maybe adapt to a kind of different style of play when you’ve been in one system for a long period. So it takes a little bit of time to adjust but I feel like I’ve kind of got there now.”

Jake Mamo impressed by team-mates
Mamo is one of a new handful of players arriving at Castleford in 2022.
He is joined by the likes of international forward Kenny Edwards and winger Bureta Faraimo. While Joe Westerman also returns. And Mamo has been impressed by his new team-mates.
“If you go through the team, Niall has the best catch-pass in the league. He’s so skilful, so fast. To play next to Beretta, he’s got all the skill in the world. Even though he’s playing on the wing, we could interchange if we wanted.
“I’ve trained outside Danny Richardson a lot, again a lot of skill and Kenny Edwards, a great offload.
“I think one of the strengths of this team this year will be the squad depth. I think we have around 30 players that probably could play every week in the league.
“There’s going to be injuries. Some other teams don’t have the depth that we do.
“So it’s always one of the big struggles I suppose for coaches and the coaching staff to try and get field a team each week consistently throughout the season.
“We should be in a good position for that.”
