James Child to referee Championship game this weekend
Under fire referee James Child will take charge of the Championship game between Widnes and Toulouse on Saturday.
The official was harshly criticised by both coaches following the ugly game between Catalans and Warrington at the weekend, which saw four yellow cards and two reds, as well as the unsavoury off-field scenes.
He will run the line at the Super League game between Wigan and Hull KR on Friday.
Last weekend was only the second time Child has taken charge of a Super League game since the end of May.
He has refereed games at Barrow, York, Halifax, Toulouse and Rochdale since the beginning of June.
Ben Thaler will take charge of the Wembley dress rehearsal between Warrington and St Helens on Thursday, with Robert Hicks taking charge of Catalans’ trip to Leeds.
Chris Kendall, Scott Mikalauskas, Marcus Griffiths and Liam Moore are the other men in the middle for this round of Super League.
