Brisbane Broncos hooker James Segeyaro has been provisionally suspended by the NRL for testing positive for a performance enhancing drug.

The Papua New Guinea international returned a positive A-sample for di-hydroxy LGD-4033 which is prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency and the NRL’s Anti-Doping Policy.

Segeyaro was tested by the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) on September 3, 2019.

The 28-year-old is prohibited from participating in any WADA compliant sport, including rugby league, while the provisional suspension is in place.

Under the Anti-Doping Policy, Segeyaro now has the opportunity to have his B-sample analysed and rested.

The NRL will not be making any further comment while the ASADA investigation is underway.
