Joel Tomkins set for Hull KR switch
Suspended Wigan forward Joel Tomkins is set for a move to Hull KR with immediate effect.
A video went viral of Joel and brother Sam went viral following their 23-0 defeat to Warrington Wolves in the Challenge Cup quarter-final last weekend.
The pair were caught on camera verbally abusing bar staff. As a result, Joel was fined £10,000 as well as being suspended for four weeks. Sam was fined £5,000. The club also revealed that they would consider Joel’s long-term future at the club.
However, it appears that Joel’s future lies away from hometown club Wigan.
The 31-year-old has been at Wigan all of his career, making nearly 250 appearances for the club.
He spent three years in rugby union with Saracens between 2011 and 2014, before returning to league with Wigan.
It is understood that a deal has been agreed between Wigan and Hull KR that will see Joel represent the Rovers with immediate effect until the end of the season, with a view to a permanent move.
He could make his Rovers debut in their game against Castleford Tigers on Sunday, June 17.
