John Kear taking positives from narrow defeat
Bradford Head Coach John Kear is taking the positives from Monday’s narrow defeat against Leigh in the Challenge Cup.
The Bulls twice let an eight-point lead slip as they lost 20-16 against Leigh at Odsal. That defeat also meant they missed out on a place in the 1895 Cup.

Kear is hoping his side can take those positives and apply them in their next match, as they make the trip up to Workington Town on Sunday.
Speaking to Bulls TV, Kear said: “Performance wise, I thought we played really well. In fact, I think it was the best 80 minutes we’ve had all year, as a performance against a good, full-time team.
“We will take lots of positives, but ultimately we lost the game. That’s the harsh reality, we need to learn from that the next time we play a Leigh or a Featherstone and attempt to better that.
“What it has allowed us to do is forensically look at what we are doing well. Who is doing well, and making sure that continues for Workington, London and the following games.”
Kear wary of Workington from time in League One
The Bulls play again on Sunday against a Workington side still looking for their first win of the season. They were promoted via the play-offs last year.
When Bradford were in League One in 2018, they suffered two of their three league defeats at the hands of Workington. This is something that Kear believes cost the Bulls the League One title.
He added: “They beat Dewsbury in the cup, which we watched and they were very good in that game. They pushed Barrow all the way as well. We know full well to what to expect and that their first league win isn’t far away- we need to make sure that it’s not against us this week.
“We also know what a difficult place it can be from when we were in League One. The two defeats against Workington cost us the Championship. They will be respected, and we know we need to be good to beat them.”
