Josh Hodgson suffers injury blow in opening game of NRL
Canberra Raiders hooker Josh Hodgson left the field with injury in the club’s opening NRL clash of 2022.
The England international left the field in the opening ten minutes with a knee injury against Cronulla Sharks.
Hodgson was seen limping to the sideline early in the game. He was assisted on the walk back to the dressing rooms by trainers.
Fox Sports reporter Matthew Russell confirmed Hodgson would miss the remainder of the game.
Russell said: “He left the field. He won’t be back. He was clutching the outside of his right knee.”
There were further talks of a potential ACL check, the same injury that ruled him out of the 2020 campaign. He ruptured his ACL in July that year. Hodgson sustained the injury in the Raiders’ 20-14 defeat to Melbourne on the weekend, with scans confirming that he ruptured his ACL.
Last season, Hodgson made the decision to stand down as captain during a difficult season for the club. He missed parts of the season with a calf injury.
