Josh McGuire and Tom Amone referred to tribunal for unacceptable language
Leigh’s Tom Amone and Warrington’s Josh McGuire have been referred to the tribunal following a Grade F charge for unacceptable language.
McGuire, 32, was sent off on his first appearance for Warrington during their 22-10 pre-season victory over the newly rebranded Leopards on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Amone, 26, remained on the field.
The details of the charge for both players explains: “Verbal abuse based on race, colour, religion, gender, sexual preference, disability, national or ethnic origin or any other form of unacceptable behaviour or language.”
Both Amone and McGuire will hear from a tribunal next Tuesday ahead of the opening round of Super League.
Josh McGuire and Tom Amone both charged
Warrington host Leeds at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Thursday – the opening game of the 2023 campaign. Meanwhile, Adrian Lam’s Leigh will face Salford at the Leigh Sports Village on the Friday.
Hull KR full-back Lachlan Coote has avoided a ban. The 32-year-old has been fined £250 for striking in a pre-season fixture against Leeds. He will be free for their opening game against Wigan on Saturday, live on Channel 4.
Aidan Sezer has escaped a ban following his sin-bin in Leeds’ pre-season defeat at Hull KR. The report from the match review panel deems that the “opponent is falling and player does not swing arm into contact” following his high shot on Coote.
In the Championship, York hooker Josh Daley has been charged with a Grade C dangerous throw. His side fell to an opening home defeat to Widnes.
He is set to miss one match unless the club decide to appeal the decision.
William McCarthy of Salford academy has been charged with a Grade D offence of dangerous contact. He will miss two matches with a £25 fine.
