Kaufman steps up for Coventry

Coventry Bears have signed forward Harry Kaufman for 2018.

Kaufman featured in the Bears’ 68-20 defeat to Newcastle last July having an answered an SOS during an injury crisis at the club.

He played for the club before it joined League in 2015, where injuries denied him a place in the initial selection, and he went on to make a handful of appearances for Oxford.

Since then, Kaufman has been playing in the Midlands Rugby League for Coventry Dragons.

Bears coach Tom Tsang said: “Harry answered an SOS call last season in the midst of an injury crisis, playing against Newcastle. He has since trained really well and has earned himself a contract for 2018.

“As a backrower, Harry is very hardworking, running good lines and is solid defensively. He will challenge our other players in that position and should feature well for us through the year.”
