Kingstone Press Championship Preview: Doncaster v Workington Town

Doncaster are still searching for that elusive first league win but pushed Sheffield Eagles all the way last week.

Coach Paul Cooke said: “For 65 minutes we matched and were probably better than them, then we made a few individual errors.

“There were three or four key points in the game. Mark (Aston) was really complimentary about our performance but as complimentary as everyone wants to be, it’s not yielded us any points as yet.

“We’ve been pretty competitive in a lot of games but have yet to get over the line.

“It’s imperative this week we remain more patient and stick to what we say we’re going to stick to and eventually we’ll come over the top of a team. This is a huge game for us, the players and everyone at the club are aware of that.”

Hooker Kyle Kesik and prop Matt Garbutt should be available for selection this week.

Workington Town put in a much-improved performance against Batley Bulldogs last weekend but it still wasn’t enough to win them the match.

Coach Phil Veivers said: “We had enough chances to win the game but weren’t clinical with the ball so we need to improve on that. Doncaster are in the same situation as us at the foot of the table.

“We’re around each other, so we’re fighting for the same points – tough!”

Workington could have second row Kurt Horton back this week.
