Knights CEO: Season not over

Newcastle Knights CEO Steve Burraston has stated that the Newcastle Knights 2010 semi final hopes are still alive, believing the Knights are a genuine contender with three games remaining in the regular season.

Although the Knights are four points out of the top eight, Burraston is adamant that a victory in Friday night’s home game encounter against the Brisbane Broncos will ensure they remain in calculation.

“Our semi final chances are real,  not only mathematically, but when you consider each team’s run home, then we are still well and truly alive.  Realistically everything is hinging on a win against the Broncos at home this Friday night,” Burraston said.

“We have won our last four home games at Energy Australia Stadium and I am confident that Friday night will be our fifth, and if so it will put us back in the race for September football.

“Our supporters and members have been fantastic this year, and we believe that their passion and continued strong voice on Friday night will help our boys to get a much needed victory.

“No doubt, our season is on the line, it’s a vital two points, but with a win we are still alive.

“You can be sure we will be fighting to the end and I’m sure our supporters will be in battle alongside us.

“We are extremely proud of the boys’ effort on the weekend, they continued their good recent form but were not justly rewarded.

“A number of factors worked against us in Auckland and the loss had nothing to do with the players effort or commitment to the game.

“But it’s not over yet.”
