Knights launch EXCEL scholarship programme

York City Knights and the Knights Foundation have announced the launch of their brand new EXCEL scholarship programme.

The scheme, which starts on Monday 10th July, is designed to support children to reach their potential and will not only focus on the delivery of rugby skills, but also developing their awareness and knowledge of nutrition, post exercise recovery, strength and conditioning as well as their mental skills.

Adam Prentis of the Knights Foundation said: “The Excel programme is designed to develop the whole player and supporting them in reaching their potential.

“It will look to have elements of strength and conditioning, lifestyle and skill development. These sessions will be done using the state of the art facilities at York St John University Sports Park including their classroom, 4G pitch and S&C suite.

“Each week will have a theme of play – grip and carry, defence, decision making and so on – and will have classroom sessions around areas such as nutrition, lifestyle, injury prevention, post exercise recovery.”
