Lachlan Coote ruled out for rest of the season due to concussion
Hull KR interim head coach Danny McGuire has confirmed that Lachlan Coote has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
Coote, 32, suffered his third head knock of the season in the 38-12 defeat to St Helens last Friday. He was forced from the field for a head injury assessment in the closing stages of the match at the Totally Wicked Stadium.
It means the full-back has been ruled out for the remaining three rounds of Super League for the Robins in 2022.
The 32-year-old will now be a doubt to represent Scotland at this year’s World Cup in October. He has won three caps for the Bravehearts, having made his debut in the 2016 Four Nations.
McGuire confirms Lachlan Coote blow
“He got another knock on his head at the weekend and that’s going to rule him out for the rest of the season,” McGuire said.
“With the concussion protocols, he won’t be available for the rest of the year now. We need to look after him and make sure he comes through the other side.
“He’s had three concussions this year which rules him out of playing any further part this year.
“I think it’s very frustrating for Lachlan. He’s been very stop-start in his first year at the club. I know he’s disappointed with that, but he’s been great around the club and the boys. Everything he brings on and off the field has been beneficial for us.
“But we’ve got to make sure he’s alright and get him right for a real, strong pre-season and a good start for next season when the new boss comes in and he can hit the ground running.”
Meanwhile, Sam Wood is expected to return for the trip to Wakefield on Thursday. He missed the clash against St Helens due to a shoulder injury. Matt Parcell and Ethan Ryan have also both completed their respective suspensions and will return.
