Sydney Roosters centre Latrell Mitchell has been granted a leave of absence amid growing speculation that his future lies away from the club.

The 22-year-old’s contract saga with the Roosters continues – but South Sydney Rabbitohs are reported to be the favourites to sign the Australia international.

Mitchell has been granted leave of absence by the Roosters, with the New South Wales representative wanting to confirm his future sooner rather than later.

In a short statement by the Roosters, it read: “In lead-up to the club’s return to pre-season, Sydney Roosters player Latrell Mitchell has been granted a leave of absence, excusing him from all training commitments.

“The club will be making no further comment at this time.”
