League 1 round-up: Chase returns, Workington only had 15 players, Miller bags hat-trick
Rangi Chase played his first game of rugby league in two years as he returned from a drugs ban.
Whitehaven spoiled the party of Chase’s return to rugby league as they beat Doncaster 22-12 at the LD Nutrition Stadium on Sunday.
Chase and Sam Doherty scored for the Dons, while Carl Forster (2) and Andrew Bulman went over for Haven. Doncaster’s Matty Beharrell was sin-binned and Whitehaven’s Jordan Burns was dismissed for fighting late on.
Workington Town had only 15 players available in their 32-22 victory over London Skolars at Borough Park.
Perry Singleton, Jamie Doran (2), Dec O’Donnell, Tyllar Mellor and Stevie Scholey crossed the whitewash for Town. O’Donnell was sent off and London’s James Barran was sin-binned in the second half for fighting.
Oldham were made to work for the two points by North Wales Crusaders as they won 46-30 at the Vestacare Stadium.
Ritchie Hawkyard (2), Danny Bridge, Lee Kershaw, Matty Wilkinson, Phil Joy and Harry Aaronson (2) went over for the Roughyeds.
Jack Miller bagged a hat-trick as Keighley Cougars battered West Wales Raiders 50-18 at Cougar Park.
Macauley Hallett, Will Cooke, Miller (3), Benn Hardcastle (2), Jamie Thackeray and Jason Muranka crossed the whitewash for the Cougars.
Husnlet powered past Coventry Bears 48-20 at Web Ellis Road.
Tom Ashton, Josh Tonks, Gareth Potts (2), Nathan Chappell, Jimmy Watson, Reece Dean (2) and Dale Bloomfield scored for Hunslet.
Whitehaven, Oldham, Newcastle, Hunslet, Doncaster and London Skolars occupy the top six spots in the League 1 table.
