League 1 round-up: Ryan and Young score four, Hunslet edge Oldham, Crusaders win in capital
League 1 provided us with another entertaining round of action on the weekend.
Ethan Ryan scored four tries to inspire Bradford Bulls to a 56-14 win over Doncaster at Odsal on Sunday. Dane Chisholm racked up a tally of 20 points thanks to eight goals and a try. Hull FC youngsters Cameron Scott, Jack Sanderson, Jordan Lane, Lewis Bienek and Jez Litten featured for the Dons on dual-registration.
North Wales Crusaders edged past London Skolars 36-28 at New River Stadium on Saturday. Crusaders came from behind at half-time to score four tries in the second half and seal the two points.
Dave Thompson scored a nine-minute hat-trick as Whitehaven battered West Wales Raiders 66-6 at Stebonheath Park. Scotland international Callum Phillips and Ellis Gillam scored two tries each for Haven.
York City Knights kept pressure on table toppers Bradford with an impressive 46-14 win over Keighley Cougars at Cougar Park. Hull KR youngster Will Oakes featured for the Knights on dual-registration. Brad Nicholson and Tim Spears were sin-binned for fighting.
Hunslet came from behind to beat Oldham 16-12 at South Leeds Stadium. Recent signing Zac Braham was outstanding for Hunslet, while Luke Hooley scored for Oldham, who is on loan from Wakefield Trinity.
Four tries from Lewis Young helped Newcastle Thunder made it four wins on the spin with a 46-12 victory over Coventry Bears at Kingston Park. Mo Agoro and Theerapol Ritson scored two tries each for Newcastle.
Workington Town put in a professional display to convincingly beat Hemel Stags 60-12 at Derwent Park on Sunday. Jack Blagbrough, who is on loan at Town from Leigh Centurions, picked up the man of the match award. Carl Forber racked up a tally of 24 points, having scored two tries and kicked eight goals.
Bradford are still top of the table, closely followed by York City Knights. Oldham and Hunslet are third and fourth respectively.
