Leeds should go in for Scott Murrell, says Garry Schofield
Great Britain legend Garry Schofield believes Leeds should try to sign Halifax veteran Scott Murrell as they look to avoid relegation from Super League.
Murrell put in a classy display to guide part-time Championship side Halifax to the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup with a 20-16 win over rivals Bradford at Odsal on Sunday.
The 33-year-old half-back has been at Fax since 2013, and has made almost 200 appearances for the club.
Speaking on the Forty20 LIVE Rugby League Podcast, Schofield said: “I have plenty of time for Scott ever since he was a young kid coming through the systems at Leeds.
“He was easily the best half-back on the weekend and if Leeds want to avoid relegation – they should get Scott Murrell for the last 14 games.
“They can let him go back to Halifax for the semi-final because there are no games that weekend.
“Leeds should get Scott Murrell back for the last 14 games and Rhinos fans wouldn’t need to worry about relegation because he would give us the organisation and shape we need. He would make sure relegation is quashed.”
Leeds should sign Scott Murrell for the rest of season. He'd organize, create opportunities and keep the shape of the team thats badly lacking. Forget about his physique – the new world boxing champion has not got an athletic shape! He'd save the Rhinos from going down defo.
