Locke on his Manly move
Kevin Locke says his return to the NRL with Manly is not about money.
Locke is expected to earn around £45,000 this year from the Sea Eagles, a big drop from the £250,000 deal he was on while at Salford.
The fullback told Fox Sports that he wants to prove he can still cut it in the NRL.
“I battled a few demons but I’m holding my own,” he said.
“Having just over a year off made me a bit nervous. I’ve got to get my head around (training) being fun and there’s rewards at the end of it.
“I feel like a young kid again, chasing a dream.”
Locke said he wishes he didn’t chase money and make his move to Super League.
“I went over there for big money so I chased the big contract,” he told Fox Sorts.
“If I could turn back time, I would have made a different decision and stayed in the NRL.
“(Koukash) treated me like a piece of meat at Salford. I’d get injured and just to get me on the field they had to put eight injections just to get me on the field.
“It was a real s**t experience. This is not what professional players should have to go through.
“If I wasn’t in the team he would probably only pay me half. All that stuff makes me feel s**t and the reason why I fell out of love with the game.”
