London to take Championship game on the road
London Broncos have announced their home fixture against Sheffield on 3rd July will now be taking place in Northfleet, Kent.
The match will move to the home of football side Ebbsfleet United as a result of planned pitch maintenance at the Cherry Red Records Stadium. The Broncos moved there ahead of the 2022 season, having spent the last five years at Ealing Trailfinders.
However, the maintenance is expected to be finished by the time Featherstone make the trip a week later.
The Kuflink Stadium will host a match as part of the Broncos plans to play one game annually in Kent. The Broncos hope these plans can help increase the profile of the game in the south east.
Broncos CEO Jason Loubser, told the club website: “We’re really grateful to Ebbsfleet FC for allowing us to use their stadium in July for our Championship fixture against Sheffield.
“It’s a great venue for us to use while essential grounds work is carried out at the Cherry Red Records Stadium. Which will enable ourselves and partners AFC Wimbledon to play on the best possible surface in the year ahead.
“It’s always been our ambition to grow Rugby League across the region. We hope our plans to host a one-off match each season in Kent can accelerate us fulfilling this objective.
“We hope to see as many Broncos fans there on the day. Hopefully we can expose our club to a new audience in the south-east.”
