Former Bradford Bulls coach James Lowes is set to make a step up in rugby union, and be the head coach at Yorkshire Carnegie in the 2017/18 union season.

Lowes last held the role in 2013/14, and is currently assitant coach at the 15-man code club.

“From next season, James Lowes will become head coach again, which will give us a smooth transition into next season and allow us to build on the achievements of the last two years,” said Carnegie executive president Sir Ian McGeechan.

Lowes left Bradford in April 2015 for “personal reasons”, after becoming head coach at the club after leaving Carnegie in 2014.
