Luis Roberts leaves Swinton for hometown club
Leigh have signed outside-back Luis Roberts from Swinton for the 2022 Championship campaign.
The 19-year-old centre or winger scored 10 tries in 18 appearances for Swinton. The Lions suffered relegation from the Championship last season.
Roberts, who grew up supporting Leigh, made his Super League debut for Salford in 2020 after coming through the ranks at the Red Devils. He has represented Wales at youth level.
Luis Roberts delighted to join his boyhood club
On joining Leigh, Roberts said: “I am delighted to be joining my hometown club.
“I was a season ticket holder in the North Stand from the age of 13 and my favourite player was Martyn Ridyard who I had the pleasure of playing alongside at Swinton. I am so grateful to Swinton for giving me my big chance last season.”
Leigh head of rugby Chris Chester said: “Luis is a good athlete and a great ball carrier who knows his way to the try-line.
“Scoring as often as he did last season shows his potential and, above all, he is a Leigh lad.”

Leigh snap up promising wingers for 2022
Leigh Centurions have signed young wingers Jayden Hatton and Tom Nisbet for the 2022 Championship season.
Hatton, 22, left hometown club Widnes at the end of the season to pursue full-time rugby. He has signed a one-year deal with the Centurions.
Nisbet, also 22, has joined Leigh on a season-long loan from Super League champions St Helens. He spent time on loan at Leigh last season and can also play full-back.
Chester said: “We are building a squad with a really good blend of good young players like Tom and Jayden who will greatly benefit working alongside the likes of Joe Wardle and Joel Tomkins and seeing what is expected of a top class professional.”
