Luke Gale receives five-match ban
Hull captain Luke Gale has received a five-match ban following his red card against St Helens.
The half-back was sent from the field early in the first half on Saturday.
Charging down a kick, he caught opposition half-back Jonny Lomax with a high boot that saw him sent from the field by official Chris Kendall.
The former Leeds man had been charged with a Grade C and Grade D Other Contrary Behaviour. His Grade C charge saw him receive a three-match penalty notice.
A statement from the RFL read: “Prior to the hearing, and with Match Review Panel approval, all parties agreed that there would be a single sanction covering both charges. Following pleas of mitigation from Gale and the club, the tribunal decided to impose a five-match suspension.”
Gale’s ban will see him miss fixtures against Salford, Castleford, Leeds and Huddersfield. He will also miss the club’s first Challenge Cup tie of 2022, due to be played on the weekend of March 26/27. Their round six opponents are not yet known.
He could return against Wigan at the DW Stadium on Thursday, March 31.

Hull had appealed Gale’s Grade C charge, which was served due to his attempt to lift Lomax after the incident at the MKM Stadium.
The tie was covered live on Channel 4 on Saturday afternoon, the second edition of their coverage.
Are we a red card curse? 😅
