Huddersfield have today announced that former academy product Luke George has signed a two-year deal with the club.

The 23-year-old has been at Wakefield for the past five years, but will return to the Galpharm Stadium for the 2012 season and will be reunited with close friends Leroy Cudjoe, Michael Lawrence and Jermaine McGillvary.

Giants Head Coach Nathan Brown is pleased to have added George to his squad “”He is a big athletic player and comes in alongside our other home-grown outside backs, we have the likes of Jermaine (McGillvary), Leroy (Cudjoe) and Michael (Lawrence) and I’m sure Luke will fit in well.

“If he puts the same amount of work in that those three guys do then I’m sure his game can really develop going forward. He is a player that I have followed since I came to the club and he has got a lot of potential to become a really good Super League player.”

Luke George was delighted to be back with the Giants: “Coming back to Huddersfield is a dream move. The chance to re-join my hometown club at a time when they are back as one of the top clubs in the game was simply too good to miss.

“Although I’ve been away from Huddersfield for five years, I’m still really good mates with Leroy (Cudjoe), Michael (Lawrence) and Jermaine (McGillvary), who are also from the town, and I can’t wait to play alongside them.

“I was in the Academy with Leroy and Michael before I went to Wakefield, and I’ve seen the way they have developed under the Giants system.

“They’re already fantastic players and are continuing to develop all the time, and I hope that proves to be the case with me as well. To be honest, pre-season training can’t come soon enough”
