Magic Weekend 2014 details confirmed

Next year’s Magic Weekend will once again be played at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester on the weekend of May 17/18 2014.

It will be the third straight year that the event takes place at the home of Manchester City football club, following the success of last weekend’s event, which saw more than 60,000 fans enjoying seven Super League games.

RFL Chief Executive Nigel Wood said: “Magic Weekend 2013 was a great success, showcasing the extraordinary sport of Rugby League to a wide audience, both at the games and on television. Once again the fans created a fantastic atmosphere, both inside and outside the stadium in the Fanzone, and I believe the whole sport can be rightly proud of the Magic Weekend.

“I am delighted that we are able to confirm the dates early for fans for 2014 and I look forward to another superb festival of Rugby League at the Etihad next May.”

The event doesn’t fall on a Bank Holiday weekend next year, with the stadium already booked for a One Direction concert.
