Magic Weekend preview: Leigh v Salford
If a Salford Red Devils minus point’s handicap winner isn’t the banker of the Magic Weekend, then Leigh have really turned their form around.
Seven losses in a row have left the Centurions almost certs to be in the Middle 8’s after 23 games, and with strong teams around them as well as in the Championship, the newly promoted side could find themselves returning to the second tier pretty quickly if things don’t change.
Salford on the other hand are seven wins from eight in Super League, and are serious top four candidates.
With Marwan Koukash taking a more relaxed approach to running the Red Devils, their results are flourishing with an attractive and aggressive style of rugby league seeing them rack up 18 points from 13 games.
If results were to go their way with Castleford and Hull both losing too, then the surprise side of 2017 could find themselves top of the table by the end of the Magic Weekend.
Salford are priced at 4/11 for the win, but the absolute banker of the Toon stopover has to be Ian Watson’s men on the -8 handicap @5/6.
