Mahe Fonua released by Hull
It is thought Hull made the move in order to give coach Brett Hodgson the opportunity to freshen up his squad after a disappointing season in 2021.
The club are being linked with Fiji forward Kane Evans following his release by New Zealand Warriors.
A statement said: “Hull FC have today agreed a financial settlement with Mahe Fonua, which will result in the immediate release of his registration from the club.
“The club would like to wish him luck in the next stage of his career.”
Fonua, who began his career with Melbourne Storm, is being linked with a reunion with his old Hull coach Lee Radford at Castleford, who have already signed his Hull team-mate Bureta Fairamo for 2022.
