Dear James,

Surely Shaun Wane can’t be happy with doing away with scrums.

The World Cup is coming up and the England team will have to revert to scrums.

That must be a disadvantage?

Editor’s comment: I have long championed for a universal set of rules/laws across the world for rugby league. It’s yet another nonsensical facet to our game that makes little sense. Given that there are only two fully professional leagues, there is no reason why they can’t all be singing off the same hymn sheet, and therefore the World Cup too. The removal of scrums was a COVID measure, though there is increased talk of making it permanent. However, it would be a mockery if Super League ditched scrums yet they remained for the NRL and the World Cup.
