Dear Editor,

As a lover of our great game, I personally would watch a hard game at any level. Even National (Conference) League games on Freesport. Grass roots need the support as well as Championship etc.

The advertising and marketing should be improved. Look at boxing and what Hearn has done for that.

Wish the RFL stopped eating prawn sandwiches and listen to it most valued assist the FANS.

Editor’s comment: There is an argument that in all the ridiculous changes that have been made over the years that one of the significant stakeholders in the game, the fans, haven’t been asked for their opinion. Rugby league fans are passionate and care about their sport in general perhaps more than any other sports fans. But because they don’t feel like their voices are being heard, some are turning away from the game. I’d expect there to be a marked difference if fans were made to feel valued and if their opinions were genuinely considered. I have long held the belief that the RFL should go on a pro-active PR drive, responding to, correcting and sometimes accepting comments made by fans, especially on social media. It would show a progressive and forward-thinking governing body that values the growth of its fanbase.
