Manly withdraw contract offer to Cherry-Evans

Manly Sea Eagles have confirmed that they have withdrawn their latest contract offer to star half-back Daly Cherry-Evans.

Negotiations have been reportedly taking place for the last three months, but now Manly have lost partience.

Australian media reports that Cherry-Evans’s management were given until lunchtime on Monday to decide one way or the other about the offer.

When no answer was forthcoming, the Sea Eagles withdrew their multi-million dollar offer to the Kangaroos star.

“It’s obvious what we’ve done – we’ve set a deadline for a reason and we are now too close to round one,” Sea Eagles chief executive Joe Kelly said.

“We will renew our conversations at some stage in the future.”

It now looks likely that Cherry-Evans will leave Manly at the end of the 2015 season, with Gold Coast Titans and Cronulla Sharks apparently favourites to secure his services.
