Marshall insists he’s commited to Kiwis
Benji Marshall has angrily insisted that he remains commited to New Zealand, after it was confirmed this week that Scotland had contacted the player to check his international eligibility.
Although Marshall met with Scotland coach Steve McCormack in Sydney recently, he has described the notion of his playing for the Scots as “Bulls***” in the Australian media.
“I’m fully committed to playing for New Zealand,” he told Fairfax Media.
“I went to the last meeting of New Zealand squad members six weeks ago, everything between me and Stephen Kearney is fine and I am in line for the end of season tour.
“This stuff makes me look bad and I am pretty angry about it.
“I have had family calling me about it, but I have no intentions of playing for Scotland. I am not even eligible.”
