Mathers ruled out for three months

London Broncos captain Richie Mathers has been ruled out for three months following ankle surgery.

Mathers, 31, suffered a syndesmosis injury to the ankle in a tackle during the win over Workington earlier this month.

Interim head coach Andrew Henderson said: “It’s really disappointing to lose Richie on the back of losing Nick Slyney recently. We’re certainly doing it tough at the moment.

“Fortunately we have some cover at full-back with Ben Hellewell, Oscar Thomas and Alex Walker but we do hope Richie is back sooner rather than later.”
