May heads for Quins exit
Londoner Luke May is on the hunt for a new club after Harlequins opted not to offer him a new contract for 2011.
May, 21, signed a first team contract in September 2008 after advancing through the Quins junior set up, and is the third product to leave the Stoop following the departures of Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook and Will Sharp to St Helens and Hull respectively.
Acting Quins head Coach Rob Powell said: “I feel sorry for Luke as he has come through the ranks over the last few years and is a good lad, passionate about the club. But despite losing two senior, club-trained players in Will and Louie, this is testament to the strength of the programme and depth of talent coming through, which means that Luke misses out on a squad place next year. I hope he stays in the game because he has a lot to offer the sport.”
He was awarded a squad number for the 2009 season and made his Super League debut against Catalans Dragons. He made two further first team appearances that season and four in 2010, all off the bench.
