McDermott: We were awful

Leeds coach Brian McDermott says his team were awful defensively against Wigan and there is no easy answer to getting out of the Rhinos’ slump.

Leeds fell to their fourth loss of the season tonight, a 22-point defeat to Wigan.

The Rhinos have won just one of five in 2016.

McDermott said his side was “way off” against the Warriors.

“I think it was only a 6-0 scoreline in the first half because Wigan’s attack near our tryline kept breaking down,” he told Sky.

“They’re a lot better than that. They let us off the hook three or four times. I thought we were awful, awful defensively.

“We were way off tonight. There’s no magic wand, you’ve got to bend your back and get through some hard work. There’s no easy answer to this.”
