Melbourne Storm duo sign new deals

Melbourne Storm pair Ryan Papenhuyzen and Harry Grant have signed new deals with the club until the end of 2022.

Full-back Papenhuyzen, 21, has scored nine tries in 23 games for Storm since making his first-grade debut in round four last season. He played five games for Australia to help the Kangaroos clinch the Nines World Cup this autumn.

He said: “I want to be the player I want to be and I feel like I am going to get that here at Storm.

“When I arrived here, I wasn’t where I wanted to be so I’ve worked pretty hard over the last couple of years and I’m now starting to lay the foundations, so I re-signed because of how far I have come already.”

Hooker Grant, 21, has made two appearances for Melbourne since making his professional debut in 2018.

Grant said: “I feel this is the place to be for my football at this stage so I’m happy to stay and see where it takes me.

“I love the culture of this club and people within the organisation and I’m glad my contract negotiations are settled for a few years now.”
