Menzies denies contact over NRL drugs storm
Catalan back-rower Steve Menzies has distanced himself from speculation surrounding the ASADA investigations into former club Manly.
The game Down Under is currently gripped by the investigation, following a report by the Australian Crime Commission which claimed widespread use of prohibited substances in the NRL.
Several clubs have been under scrutiny, including Manly, for who Menzies made more than 300 appearances before moving to Super League in 2009.
Rumours surfaced last week about Menzies’ co-operation with ASADA.
He tweeted: “Just want to let u all know I’ve had no contact with ASADA at all. I know Manly are co-operating with ASADA & are doing all they can to help.”
Manly, who employed controversial sports scientist Stephen Dank, was named in the report into drugs in sport, along with Canberra, Cronulla, Newcastle, North Queensland and Penrith.
