Mikey Wood extends Newcastle stay
Newcastle forward Mikey Wood has signed a new deal with the club for the 2021 Championship season.
The 24-year-old joined Thunder ahead of 2020 from Bradford, playing five games for the North East side this year before the season was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Wood said: “I can’t wait to be back playing with the Thunder lads after the disappointment that we never got to finish the season this year.
“I loved every minute that I played. I’ve been training hard during lockdown – a lot of gym work and running- but I’m looking forward to starting some field training with the boys.
“I think we’ve the potential to do really well this season and it will be great to play alongside some of the new talent that has been signed.”

Thunder director of rugby Denis Betts said: “Mikey is a committed front rower who works hard and has a lot of drive and ambition.
“He is good at the play-the-ball, has a good work ethic and is the sort of player that you want in your squad, so I am pleased he will be back with us for next season.”
