Milner extends Castleford deal

Castleford hooker Adam Milner has signed a two-year extension to his contract with the club.

Milner, 21, had one year remaining on his existing contract, and his new deal will keep him at the Tigers until the end of the 2016 season.

The former Stanley Rangers amateur has enjoyed a successful 2013 season, scoring seven tries in 20 Super League appearances, including four in his last three games.

Milner is delighted to have extended his stay:

“As soon as I got the contract offer I didn’t think twice about signing it and I’m really happy about staying here for the next three years.

“The coaching staff that we have in Daryl Powell and Danny Orr have been massive for us and that, together with the players that we have, make me believe that the club is going places.

“We’ve shown in the second-half of this season how well we can play and just what a good team that we are. I want to continue to be a part of it and hopefully there are bigger and better things on the way.

“I’ve got a lot of confidence from the last few games and I’m enjoying my football and I think a lot of that is down to the coaches and what’s going on down at Cas.

Long may that continue and we continue to push on over the next three years and hopefully I can produce more good performances.”

Tigers head coach, Daryl Powell said, “It is crucial that we retain the young players are that developed through our system and go on to play in the first team.

“Adam Milner is a player who is a significant part of the future and I am delighted he has signed a contract extension which will keep him here for the next three years.

“Adam’s best years are ahead of him and I am confident he will be pressing to play at the highest level during that time.

“Both his attacking game and his toughness in defence are developing every week and I know he will continue to work hard to achieve his undoubted potential.”
