My Set of Six: with Canberra forward Ryan Sutton featuring Sean O’Loughlin & Wigan’s 2018 Grand Final triumph
Canberra forward Ryan Sutton is our latest guest on My Set of Six.
We’re asking you, the fans, plus players, coaches and other rugby league personalities to give us their answers to our set of six questions.
Favourite away ground?
I loved playing at the Totally Wicked Stadium, St Helens. Being a Wigan lad and playing in a Wigan-St Helens derby, the atmosphere was always that little more special.
Favourite player?
Sean O’Loughlin. I just admire what he has done as a player. He’s got it all – skilful, tough and just an all-round winning mentality. I watched him as a kid and got to play most of my Wigan career with him (he’ll hate me for mentioning that!) but he is just an all-round good bloke.
Favourite memory?
Winning the Grand Final with Wigan in 2018. With so many players and staff members moving after that year we knew it could be a special year, and everyone who did leave then left with a smile on their face.
Worst memory?
To be honest I’ve not got too many that I can think of but one that sticks in my head was the Challenge Cup final loss to Hull FC in 2017. We worked so hard to get to the final and we came up short.
Best match you’ve seen?
One of the best matches I’ve seen was the England v New Zealand game over in Denver. It was a really tough and gritty performance from England in what looked like really tough conditions.
Your wish for the future of rugby league?
To see the English game be televised more and for rugby league to invest in the youth clubs.
