Myles makes Queensland return
Queensland State of Origin forward Nate Myles has signed a four-year deal with Gold Coast Titans from next season, after being granted a release by Sydney Roosters.
Myles, 25, said he was pleased to be returning to Queensland after seven seasons in Sydney with the Roosters (2007-11) and Bulldogs (2005-06) in which he has notched 120 NRL games as well as 14 games for Queensland and 3 Tests for Australia.
“I just felt the timing was right to return home to Queensland. I will now be living closer to family and friends who reside in South East Queensland and I know a few of the boys at the Titans which is great,” said Myles.
“I feel very fortunate to be joining the Titans and am happy with the decision.”
Myles joins Cronulla forward Luke Douglas as new additions to the Titans pack for next season, alongside existing representative players Ashley Harrison (QLD), Greg Bird (NSW) and former NSW and Australian prop Luke Bailey.
Titans Managing Director Michael Searle said: “Having a high quality State of Origin player of Nate Myles’ calibre come to the club is a massive outcome for our club and the recruitment phase for season 2012.
“We welcome Nate and his partner Tessa James to the Titans family and back to Queensland. We have never hidden our desire to recruit Nate and have many times negotiated for his services so to be able to land his agreement is a great coup for our club’s plans for 2012 and beyond.
“We would like to acknowledge the Sydney Roosters cooperation with our club and in assisting Nate to agree to his release in season 2012.”
